HEAVY METAL / Street League Skateboarding Collab
Happy December! Coming to a close on the year!!
I wanted to follow up that last blog post with a quick update and re-post of my Blog that was featured on - HEAVYMETAL.COM!!! I’ll post the link below if you wanted to see it there in all of it’s intended glory. But for those who do come here for the reads, thank you. I truly appreciate the support and love from you all.
Back at the end of October I was able to work with the team at SLS with Heavy Metal Magazine for our collaboration at their Las Vegas Takeover that was outside of ComplexCon. What an insane string of words to be a part of this epic event. But the biggest thing of all of this - in the last twenty years I’ve made countless one off skateboards, but now, I MADE REAL ONES!!! CHECK EM OUT!
This set came FAST from my dude Vance Kelly, he and I have always been around each other from the poster scene, he worked with us on the Threadful Things Anubus shirt and poster for me on the personal brand, but we’ve always wanted to work together on something bigger. This one hit right. He CRUSHED this design in about five days in order for us to make it to the show. WHAT A BADASS! We also put this on to a t-shirt and a mini print. I also got a Patch done for the show in what felt like a week. Hah!
They came out incredible! Huge shout out to the homie Ricky for pushing these in front of other items to make it in such a tight turn time.
The event was ALSO insane. It was a tight street course with just a rail, some ledges, stair set, and a bit of a launch ramp. But they kicked off the event with Dead City Punx playing a show, NITRO CIRCUS team members in a stunt show, and some killer food.
But the CRAZY part of the day with Ginwoo Onodera ripping it from the wildcard showdown to the final event and taking the day. This fifteen year old dude from Japan CRUSHED these dudes in their 30’s. What a day. I was on the ground grabbing as many images as I could. This one got shared around a little bit, which was super rad. Here is a link to the Blog Post on Heavy Metal’s site.
Then we hit over to ComplexCon to finish up the day and into the next.
Such a truly wild event to see in person. Saw some things I’m now seeing everywhere - including these guys who just collabed with the Hundreds -
But walking around this show was super inspirational. There was so much going on, so many vendors and I’m excited to see what trends come from this show into the new year!
One last thing from the show that was rad - Ran into Johnny Knoxville.
Thanks again for reading, I will have more as I will be updating some projects here over the holidays.
